Dirk M. Wascher holds academic degrees in landscape planning from Germany and the United States (University of Washington, Seattle). He has been a member of the European Environment Agency Task Force in Brussels, Programme Officer at the European Centre for Nature Conservation and Senior Researcher at Wageningen UR. As managing director of the consultant company SUSMETRO, Mr. Wascher provides expertise on landscape assessment, metropolitan food planning, circular economy and transition management towards sustainable solutions. Next to the coordination of large-scale European projects and engaging in innovation management, Mr. Wascher has taught sustainable design at the University of Michigan and Wageningen University as well at various Summer Schools such as in Athens, Leipzig and Thuringia (Germany) – the latter on agro-park design as part of the German International Architectural Fair IBA. He is fluent in German, English and Dutch and communicates in French and Spanish.
